When i saw those weird versions..well, i had to put down the right one.
Its one of my favorite exercise slap riffs, i always play it with my drummer for warm up.

Ok, now here is that crazy part. Hold your slap thumb in line with string (horizontaly).
those `ghost` notes (x) - you have to slap them all....all..;) (bend them?) laik.
I hold the g note (e string, 3 field) with my thumb. Try it out..if it works for you..

The point is...well you have to take this very slowly, and play it quietly.
but when you cover it completely, then slap the shit out of your bass..
